SEO for car dealers

We’d love to hear from you!

What’s Search Engine Optimisation?

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the practice of optimising a website through a number of different techniques so that it ranks higher on search engine results pages. This then helps you to drive more people to your website. The better optimised your website is, the higher it will rank in search engines, meaning you will begin to spend less on paid advertising, such as Google Adwords.

How does it work?

Search engines have ‘crawlers’ that search the internet gathering as much information as possible. They then index your website and try and match your website to search terms potential customers are using, such as ‘prestige car dealership’.

The better optimised your website is, the more queries your website will answer; which ultimately means you will rank higher organically and your website will appear in a lot more searches without having to pay.

Why is this important to you?

Google and other search engines dominate the web. A huge 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine, and what’s more 80% of automotive purchases start with Google! Therefore ensuring your dealership’s website is ranking on the first page of search results for those all important search terms is crucial.

It really works…

Alan Kerr came to Spidersnet for additional SEO help to dominate local search terms, as well as push the new motorhome ranges they stock. When we started their campaign the website had a 42% YOY organic search traffic deficit. From their month one audit and analysis our team of experts identified that significant losses in traffic from search engines tied in with a number of Google algorithm updates relating to onsite content issues. With a number of recommendations to improve the content on the Alan Kerr website we got to work. Within a couple of months had already began to see a number of improvements in the right direction. Firstly, we were closing the traffic deficit. Organic traffic went from being 42% down to just 1% down YOY in only our second month of work. The site has had a number of positive movements in rankings for some important terms. We saw keywords taking massive leaps forward from the seventh page on Google’s search results to page two (remember this is only in the second month, there’s still a lot more potential for this website), and from the bottom of page two to page one.
Since The Motorhome Depot joined Spidersnet as an SEO customer in July 2017 we have seen a number of successes for their growing site. As a result of continuous improvements to onsite content, and building new and local backlinks, organic search traffic to the website was up 112% as they entered the start of their busiest period of the year. They now dominate relevant searches in their local area, appearing at the very top of the organic listings for some of their target search terms. Brand model terms, such a ‘Elddis Encore’ are now ranking on page one in Google, from page two when we started their campaign
