Volvo sees first ever fully-online car sale
The Volvo online buying platform is live and the first new car sale has been made by Cambridge Garage in Havant, according to AM Online.
Matthew Blanksby bought a new Volvo V60 estate, completing the entire purchase through Volvo Online, after choosing Cambridge Garage as his chosen retailer.
Volvo launched the new system a few months ago and stated that it is the most comprehensive of its kind offered by any car brand in the UK.
“We are pleased that Matthew found the process so secure, easy and convenient, and wish him many happy years of motoring in his new V60.”

When using the system, customers are able to select a nearby Volvo dealership, and configure their vehicle, before selecting specific accessories. They’re even able to include their current vehicle in a part-exchange, or purchase their new Volvo using PCP, conditional sale or cash.
John-Michael Eastman, the business manager at Cambridge Garage Havant, told AM Online: “It’s quite a privilege to have helped Volvo’s first online customer. We are pleased that Matthew found the process so secure, easy and convenient, and wish him many happy years of motoring in his new V60.”
Spidersnet reported on the launch of Volvo Online in May when the brand’s UK CEO, Jon Wakefield, said: “We have clear evidence showing that of all Western European markets, UK consumers generally have a higher propensity to buy things online.
“The consumer now has full control, delivered by the internet, and we recognise that. We want to make life simpler for them.”
Volvo’s future retail manager Nicola Murphy told AM Online that the new system offers customers a different way to buy, whilst still ensuring they have the option of choosing how and when to engage with a local dealership.
She said: “Importantly, the retailer is on hand to help the customer at any point within the process, making the purchase even easier and more convenient for our customers.”
Speaking of his purchase, Matthew Blanksby said: “Having noticed on the Volvo Car UK website that you could order online, I knew I had to go for it. Having the option to order cars online makes real sense, especially for busy people and shift-workers like myself.”
