We found out a really interesting statistic the other day and it really made us think. Invesp stated that ‘78% of online shoppers don’t look at a product in a store before buying it online’, and what makes this figure even more staggering is that in 2017, an estimated 1.66 billion people worldwide purchased goods online.
But what does this have to do with the car industry?
We looked into this further and found that Tesla has started to address this shift in consumer purchasing. They’ve adopted the Amazon shopping experience, which allows the user to follow easy steps to choose their paint colour, wheels, interior, battery type… the list goes on. The process then allows the user to apply for finance and eventually leads them to a payment option – all without seeing the car once! Consumers now want to have the power to click a few buttons and have the product delivered straight to their door.
What does this mean for you?
There is no way of getting around the fact that online purchasing is dominating the consumer landscape. Therefore, your website needs to become your best friend. It needs to be responsive for use on mobiles and tablets, it needs to be quick, and it needs to have everything a customer would want to make an informed decision.
