Spidersnet Dealer Gets PM’s Seal of Approval
‘Prime Minister’ and ‘eye for a bargain’ are not two terms usually found in the same sentence but that’s exactly what Spidersnet dealer Iain Harris witnessed at his Witney Used Car Centre showroom in Minster Lovell last Friday.
David Cameron could be forgiven for being a little preoccupied with the impending Brexit referendum but purchasing a £1,500 Nissan Micra appeared to be the most important piece of business on his mind when he arrived to buy the car as a “cheap run-around” for his wife.
The Oxfordshire-based dealership’s website is designed and hosted by Spidersnet and it certainly caught the eye of the Conservative leader. Upon picking up the phone to the enquiry from Number 10, Mr. Harris, 44, thought he was on the receiving end of a joke by one of his friends. He explained; “I thought it was one of my mates having a wind-up and I was going to be sat here for half an hour on my own doing nothing – especially when he said it was for a Nissan Micra.”
Nonetheless, he took the and risk and his patience paid off. Mr. Cameron arrived shortly after with his security detail; who were apparently tasked with checking the rear break lights. It would appear it was simply ‘Dave’ who turned up to make the purchase rather than The Prime Minister of Britain as Mr. Harris described the experience as “just a normal chap buying a car for his wife, a normal conversation, normal sort of deal and that was it.”
Mr. Harris was so at ease in the company of David “normal chap” Cameron that he couldn’t help but quip about the car’s blue colour; citing the good fortune that it wasn’t red – the colour of the Labour Party.
